Step Back in Time with Kerry Writers’ Museum’s Exciting New Celtic Warriors & Legends Workshop for Schools
Calling all young warriors! Kerry Writers’ Museum is proud to unveil its newest and most exciting School Tour Programme for 2025, featuring the action-packed Celtic Warriors & Legends Workshop. Designed for primary school children aged 5–12, this interactive, hands-on experience will transport young learners back to ancient Ireland, where fearless warriors roamed, druids cast their spells, and epic tales were told around roaring fires.
As part of this immersive experience, children will have the rare opportunity to see an authentic reproduction of Celtic clothing, currently on loan to the Museum from Louise Lynch. Louise’s late father, John Kehoe, played a pivotal role in the reconstruction and development of Lios Na gCon Ringfort in West Cork from the 1980s up until his untimely passing in the early 2000s. This unique addition brings history to life, offering a tangible link to the craftsmanship and daily lives of the Celts.

A Fun & Educational Experience
This workshop is carefully designed to blend history, storytelling, creativity, and teamwork, making it an ideal school tour option. It supports the primary school history curriculum and allows children to experience Ireland’s rich heritage in a way that is both educational and entertaining.
What to Expect:
Warrior Welcome – Be greeted by a costumed Celtic Chieftain and prepare for an adventure through time.
Dress-Up & Naming Ceremony – Transform into a Celtic hero with tunics, cloaks, and warrior names inspired by mythology.
Craft Your Own Shield & Sword – Design and decorate your warrior gear using traditional Celtic symbols.
Legendary Storytelling – Act out thrilling tales of Irish warriors and mythical battles.
Warrior Training & Battle Reenactment – Learn basic warrior skills and engage in a safe, friendly ‘battle’ with fellow young warriors.
Earn Your Warrior Certificate – Take home your shield, sword, and a certificate of bravery!
