We are delighted to host the launch of Our New Friends from Ukraine to Ireland on Saturday February 21st at 3 pm, featuring stories of resilience, culture and welcome, compiled by Luke Kindelan. The book will be launched by acclaimed Listowel born author Roisín Meaney.
This book is a heartfelt tribute to the resilience of the Ukrainian people and a powerful testament to the warmth and generosity of the Irish spirit. It captures, with clarity and compassion, one of the most significant humanitarian responses of our time. beginning with the harrowing decisions to flee home, tracing the journey to Ireland, and culminating in stories of friendship, hope, and cultural exchange, demonstrates thoughtful storytelling and a strong journalistic instinct.
The inclusion of Ukrainian cultural practices, recipes, traditions, and language, alongside Irish equivalents, adds another rich layer to this work. It doesn’t just speak of survival, it celebrates identity, exchange, and belonging. The message is clear: integration is not assimilation, but a mutual enrichment of communities.
