UPCOMING Event
Kerry Women in Literature Official Opening
DATE
May 28th, 2025
Join us on Wednesday May 28th at 6pm for the official opening of Kerry Women in Literature, a new permanent exhibition celebrating the powerful legacy of Kerry’s women writers.
Funded by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport & Media under the Regional Museum Exhibitions Scheme, this vibrant multi-disciplinary brings long-overdue recognition to thirteen Kerry-born writers whose words, resistance, and creativity have resonated across generations. The exhibition features contemporary artwork which reimagines the work of five of the featured writers.
From the folkloric storytelling of Peig Sayers to the poetic power of Eibhlín Dubh Ní Chonaill, the exhibition uncovers a lineage of women who wrote against the grain and under the radar—often in times when female voices struggled to be heard.
The exhibition will be officially opened by Theatre Historian & Archivist Dr. Fiona Brennan, a leading expert on Kerry’s literary women and long time supporter of Kerry Writers’ Museum.
