We are delighted to host the launch of two new collections of poetry & stories by Mick Joyce and Joe Healy on Saturday October 25th at 7.30 pm. Joe and Mick are regular attendees at Poetry in the Park, our monthly open mic gathering.
Girls on a Merry-Go-Round
This is Joe Healy’s second collection of poetry and short stories which features Joe’s family in the title poem. His heroes vary from John Hume to Rory Gallagher to Blind Boy Boatclub. Hurling and athletics and the Ryder Cup are included. His heroes have endured war, famine, illness and have inspired this collection. Prepare to be entertained.
Breaking Cover
Mick Joyce grew up in Mulranny, Co. Mayo and has been resident in Ballyheigue for the past 30 years. His venture into the world of writing poetry has come late in life and he is enjoying it so far. Breaking Cover is his first poetry collection and reflects his life experience and vision: a love of nature, the ups and downs of family and world, the joys, hopes and contradictions in everyday living as well as a trek through Kerry, Mayo, Zambia, Rwanda and other worlds – inner and outer!
